To provide BC’s children and youth with the tools to develop critical and analytical skills, self- esteem, and academic achievement through music education; to ameliorate the economic burden for parents, schools, and communities whose youth wish to participate in musical activities; to enhance leaning opportunities for young artists and to help vulnerable youth find their place in society and; to foster a culture of engaged philanthropy and; to encourage youth to develop a life-long relationship with music.
Our mandate speaks to the core value that access to music and music education is the inherent right of all youth. By embracing this core value, we are committed to providing tools that are known to develop brain activity, physical endurance, tolerance, sensitivity and good character so that all youth can reach their human potential.
Access to Music Foundation was founded in 2005 by members of Music BC Industry Association in response to financial challenges faced by public school music programs. In 2010, Access to Music (formerly Music BC Charitable Foundation) became a stand-alone organization governed by a dynamic and committed board of directors. Since then, we have become a leader in supporting music education by putting instruments into the hands of thousands of music students across the province, encouraging hundreds of young people to express themselves through songwriting, and assisted many gifted young artists in the next stage of their careers.
Access to Music Foundation is supported through generous individual and corporate donations and private foundations. Our public fundraising efforts include an annual gala, concerts, third party events and social media campaigns. Access to Music Foundation is a charitable organization in good standing with the CRA Registration number 845751270RR0001. Charitable tax receipts are available for cash donations. For donations of instruments, please contact our office.
Access to Music Foundation is a member of the Association for Fundraising Professionals and Imagine Canada.
