Music BC Charitable Foundation’s Board of Directors is seeking eligible candidates to fill one vacant position.

Music BC Charitable Foundation is a leader in supporting music education programs across British Columbia. Our Adopt an Instrument program provides quality instruments to public and Aboriginal schools, regional youth orchestras and community centres across BC. Songwriters of a New Generation (SONG) is a mentor based program for ages 12-24 that teaches basic song writing skills as a means of healthy expression. The Music BC Charitable Trust provides scholarships to financially needy and exceptionally talented young musicians who are pursuing post-secondary education in music.

Now in its’ 7th  year, Music BC Charitable Foundation is entering an exciting year with a recently developed organizational rebrand, the launch of two new funding campaigns, and an increase in our program delivery.

The Board of Directors is comprised of a dynamic group of “hands on” people from the music and corporate industries, and music education, who work as a team to champion our mission and vision. Each director serves a 2-year term with the possibility of re-election for one additional term.

Ideally, candidates should possess some of the following skills, knowledge, and traits:

  • A passion for music and a strong commitment to support public school music education
  • Experience in one of the fields of education, community building, music, marketing, entertainment, finances, or fundraising
  • Have a basic knowledge of and appreciation for various music genres
  • Ability to attend monthly meetings, an annual strategic planning session, and at least one school and community youth concert.
  • Possess a sense of fairness and humour.

Elections will be held at our Annual General Meeting on Monday, September 23, 2013. Young persons age 21+, women, and people from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
