On Thursday, May 30th, Vancouver Technical Secondary‘s Music Program held their annual Spring Concert. The Foundation, as well as MusiCounts, were special guests, and we were treated to incredible performances by Van Tech students – from the Beginning Band, to the Choir, to the Senior Symphony!

Mark Reid, Van Tech’s music program head, was awarded Music Teacher of the Year by CARAS/MusiCounts this past winter, but the Spring Concert was a chance for his students to honour their deserving music teacher by showcasing the great work that all have put in to this most inspiring music program.

The Foundation was exceptionally honoured when our President & CEO, Elka S. Yarlowe, was presented with a Talisman Music Award in recognition of her longstanding support of music programs at Van Tech and its feeder schools.

Not only that, but during the concert it was announced that Music BC Charitable Foundation would be the beneficiary of Van Tech Secondary’s annual Winter Concert. We’re so proud of the students and teachers at Van Tech for all their hard work and beautiful music, and we’re so grateful for the school’s commitment to supporting BC music education programs like their own.
